As we come into the Easter season we are reminded of our real reason for being as a church. We are here to be the visible body of our risen and ascended savior Jesus Christ. Fellowship is, of course, vital to the body life of the church. We need each other and as Jesus prayed in John 17 we need to be united together just as the Father is united to the Son. Such a call to unity is in itself is a tremendous challenge, but there is so much more.

In a letter dated April 22, 1784, Benjamin Franklin wrote the following to his friend Benjamin Webb: “I do not pretend to such a Sum; I only lend it to you. When you [...] meet with another honest Man in similar Distress, you must pay me by lending this Sum to him; enjoining him to discharge the Debt by a like operation, when he shall be able, and shall meet with another opportunity. I hope it may thus go thro' many hands, before it meets with a Knave that will stop its Progress. This is a trick of mine for doing a deal of good with a little money”. In this article we will discuss in more detail the whole concept of "Paying it Forward."
